Italian Baroque Villa Wedding
Villa Faraggiana is one of the many hidden gems of Liguria. Built in the first half of the 18th century, it is here to remind us of the grandeur of Genoa at the time of the maritime republics, with the glory and bling worthy of a sovereign residence. We Italians are somewhat used to being surrounded by historic landmarks and art, so we grew accustomed to beauty to the point of not minding any longer, unfortunately, since we live in abundance. But in the eyes of the Australian guests, I could clearly read the amazement and admiration for a place so rich in artistic and cultural heritage and so different from their home. And that was every bit understandable.
Elena and David chose this elegant corner of the world to celebrate their inter-continental marriage. In fact, Elena is genuinely genuese but David and his family are from Adelaide, Australia. As if to say: If we really believe life will present us with our soul mate, it will only be a matter of time before we find him/her, no matter where or no matter what.
Marrying your soul mate
Judging by the little bit of their story that I was able to learn and by the emotional engagement of all the participants, I would say that like so many other times and more so than others, I photographed the marriage of two soul mates. And I’m glad that I could do it and that I could do it in Villa Faraggiana, that I know so well. What would I have missed if they got married in Adelaide instead! Or maybe they would still have wanted me as their photographer in that case? Go figure … I’d sure like to think so. Maybe they’ll tell me after they see this sneak peek of their wedding photographs, which I’m happy to share with all of you reading my blog!
So without any further ado, here’s a glimpse of Elena and David and their beautiful Italian baroque villa wedding …
