Destination wedding in Colla Micheri for Hedvig and Sebastian, a young couple from Norway with strong ties to Italy and to this small village on the Western Ligurian Riviera in particular. For a village of only 32 residents, Colla Micheri actually has an ancient and fascinating history which most likely dates back to Roman times, when it functioned as a rest station for travelers venturing along the Via Julia Augusta, transiting to and from the French Riviera and the Rhone.
However, the actual village that can be visited today dates back to medieval times, perched and hidden behind the crest of the hill among the olive trees. Invisible from the coast and well protected from the dangers that came from the sea, like the Saracen pirates who raged through the Ligurian gulf back in those times. Which makes it a perfect place today for a private and cozy ceremony with a strong character: a destination wedding in Colla Micheri is covered in the charm of the stone houses and olive groves, giving the event an authentic flavor with strong coastal hues.
Leaving the church of San Sebastiano, Hedvig and Sebastian wanted to continue for a quick photo shoot on the seafront and pier of Laigueglia, crowded as Liguria can be on the weekends of the summer season, or immediately after. Wedding reception and celebrations at the Garlenda Golf Club, not far away, easily accessible and definitely surrounded by greenery.
Below are some photos of their day, as always in the unobtrusive and photojournalistic style that distinguishes my wedding photography.
