French Riviera Wedding
A French Riviera wedding is technically a ‘destination wedding‘ for me, even if in reality the French Riviera is an extension of the Western Ligurian Riviera (the French are free to think the other way around) and the beautiful landscape made of steep hills and blue sea is all but unfamiliar to me. However, there is something in those few kilometers that separate the Cote d’Azur from Italy that makes the landscape unique and unequivocally ‘French’. Mysteries and magic of the border lands, as borders are clearly not just signs on maps or fiscal separators.
St Jean Cap Ferrat
Cap Ferrat is a promontory just east of Nice and the perfect location for a marine-themed French Riviera wedding. The program of the day includes the ceremony in the small church inside the marina of St. Jean Cap Ferrat and the transfer by sea aboard a motorboat to the wedding reception venue, circumnavigating the Cap Ferrat promontory.
Beach Wedding at the Plage de Passable
Wedding reception at Passable Beach means having dinner literally by the sea and a fireworks display that can put any Ferragosto or New Year’s Eve celebration to shame.
Is this sounding all too good? Actually, there was an element that played against a perfectly organized day in every detail. The epitome of any bride’s nightmare: rain! Not the occasional late summer shower, mind you. Rather complete, legit bad weather, with strong winds and temperature drop.
But as I always say, in case of rain the single most important thing, the only thing that can save the day, is the couple’s attitude. The “too bad it’s raining but we’ll just go ahead and have fun enjoying our day” type of attitude. The “let’s get wet and have fun” spirit is what saves the day.
Carolina and Giuseppe have shown such spirit in spades. A fantastic French Riviera wedding like theirs must be deserved, and they sure deserved it all right!
