Wedding in Portovenere
As soon as Chiara saw the little gothic church of San Pietro on the tip of the promontory, she had no doubts: that would have been the venue for her wedding with Lys, the point of arrival of their long story and at the same time the starting point for all that will be, from then on.
In fact, how to blame her? A wedding in Portovenere is juxtaposed between the sea and the sky, between the island of Palmaria and Byron’s grotto. The tip of the promontory dominates the panorama of the Gulf of Poets and makes for a place of unique and unrepeatable beauty, almost closing in a grand finale a stretch of coast, that of the Cinque Terre, which to the eyes of the world identifies the very essence of Liguria .
A very romantic landscape indeed, to inspire romantic poets like Byron and to provide the perfect setting for the story of Chiara and Lys, two romantic spirits who could in turn inspire novelists and poets.
Wedding reception in Villa Marigola, Lerici
Of course, schlepping a hundred plus guests between Portovenere and Lerici ain’t no easy task, but the day required nothing less, than to continue with a reception at Villa Marigola in Lerici. Not by chance the Villa is from the same era as Lord Byron and therefore perfectly in line with the mood of the day and philologically correct!
My photos will tell of a day of strong emotions and laughter, of sun and wind, of people enjoying each other’s company. They will tell about Chiara, Lys and their little Charlotte and how they wanted to celebrate – in a big way – their being a beautiful family.
